Here are some ways to spend the perfect Saturday in Canton.
Shopping
Every Saturday from June through October, the Canton Farmers Market brings local vendors and artisans from all over the community together at Brown Park to offer some of the best local goods around. Each week, fresh farm produce, baked goods, food specialty items, fresh flowers and other food-related items are available from 9:00am-12:30pm, offering plenty of opportunities to buy locally during the warmer months.
Unique shopping experiences can be found inside The Mill on Etowah, including Cotton Mill Exchange, M&M Mercantile, Alpine Leather Company, The Be Brand, and more. Along Main Street, B. Loved and Chamberhouse are popular women’s clothing and gift stores, and Menagerie on Main is a community-focused art gallery where you can purchase a variety of pieces from local artists.
Parks & Trails
An active lifestyle is easy to achieve in Canton, where visitors and residents can get some exercise at one of the public parks or outdoor trails. The Etowah River flows through the city, making it easy to grab a kayak or tube and enjoy the water. Heritage Park, located off Riverstone Parkway, has a one-mile concrete walking trail that connects the Etowah River Trail and Etowah River Park, making it easy to walk back and forth between the two areas. Many of Canton’s parks also offer playgrounds, covered picnic areas, and open field space and are top choices for Saturday morning playdates and sports events.
Restaurants & Bars
The Mill on Etowah, the mixed-use development set in the heart of downtown Canton, has added more new restaurants and bars since the opening in 2019, offering more options to explore flavors and cuisines. Some of our favorite locally-owned restaurants in downtown Canton include Queenies, Local on North, Goin’ Coastal, and Riverstone Corner Bistro. New favorites that are additions inside the Mill on Etowah include Community Burger, Atomic Biscuit, Nava, and Magnolia Villa.
If you’re looking for a cold one, Reformation Brewery’s flagship location at the Mill offers a variety of locally-made beers, or try a wine flight at Fermented, a wine boutique and bar.
Live Music & Shows
Some of the best local musical talent in Cherokee County can be found playing tunes almost any Saturday evening. The expansive green space at the Mill makes catching live music a breeze, and there isn’t a bad view to be found.
