Although metro Atlanta’s larger lakes like Lake Allatoona, Carter’s Lake and Lake Lanier are well known destinations, Lake Acworth is a hidden gem, located in Northwest Cobb County. Lake Acworth is a quiet 260 acre lake with a beautiful white sand beach. The lake is for electric only boats and features several parks, beaches and boat rentals. Acworth Beach at 25 acre Cauble Park is on the north side of the lake and has fishing, restrooms, playground, picnic areas, volleyball, and rental facilities for kayaks and paddleboards. On the southern side of the lake is 30 acre South Shore Park, located on Ragsdale Road off Highway 92, and offering a beach and fishing area. A 1500 foot long dam impounds Proctor Creek to separate Lake Acworth from Lake Allatoona. Fishing for bluegill, largemouth bass, redear sunfish, black crappie, gizzard shad and common carp are popular at the lake.
