KENNESAW AT A GLANCE
The City of Kennesaw is deeply rooted in the history of the Civil War and the birth of our nation’s railroads, but it’s an Atlanta suburb that has its sites fixed firmly on the future.
Not far from the base of Kennesaw Mountain in Cobb County, this thriving Atlanta suburb is home to Kennesaw State University (KSU), the third-largest university in Georgia. With more than 24,600 undergraduate and graduate students representing 132 countries, KSU’s lush 328-acre campus provides an attractive hub that makes this town appealing to both commuters and resident students.
The city features a vibrant array of museums, shopping, dining, and outdoor activities that first time visitors, as well as longtime residents are sure to enjoy. History buffs, would do well to visit the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History, the KSU Museum of History and Holocaust Education, or the eighteen miles of trails at the Kennesaw Mountain Nation Battlefield Park.

Why do we love Kennesaw?
The past and the future collide in wonderful ways.
Describe Our Perfect Day in Kennesaw
Taking a walk through history at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield park. All a long the miles of trails you can go back in time and even see the canons that were used during the civil war. If you make it to the top of the mountain, on a clear day you can see the distant skyline of Atlanta. I would continue my tour through history with a stop at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History. For lunch I would head over to McCollum Airport where I can eat a wonderful meal at Elevation while watching the planes come and go. With Kennesaw State University near by there are so many activities to choose from in the evenings. Concerts, festivals, sporting events, classes, or educational talks are always going on.
