Canton’s fabled history and its flourishing present have collided to create a richly rewarding location for its residents to raise a family, build a business, and write the stories of their lives.
Ranked in 2005 as the fifth fastest-growing city in the United States, Canton and its hallowed landscape once nurtured the Cherokee Nation, was home to gilded dreams of untold riches as the “silkworm capital of the South,” and produced the famous “Canton denim” in its cotton mills. Easily accessed by both Atlanta’s urban amenities and the retreat of the North Georgia mountains, this Cherokee County seat offers its residents a place to stay put and make themselves at home. With its broad selection of restaurants, parks, theaters, and shops, Canton has long outgrown the diminutive label ”suburb” and has become a worthy destination in its own right.
Why do we love Canton?
Takes you back to your roots.
Describe Our Perfect Day in Canton
It begins on the Etowah river with a canoe if I take the family, or a kayak if I go it alone. The natural beauty and utter relaxation that I can find so close to a big city is so refreshing. When I get off the river I’m ready for a picnic at one of the many parks and recreational areas. After a morning and afternoon of seclusion I finish off the evening in downtown Canton where I can shop, eat, listen to live music, catch a show at the local theater, or even watch a movie outdoors.
One Thing Someone Looking to Live in Canton Should Know?
